THE RETRO COCKTAIL HOUR stirs up a hi-fi highball every Saturday at 7:00pm on KANU-FM 91.5 at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Here you'll find the jungle sway of Les Baxter and Martin Denny, the eccentric pop confections of Esquivel, the mambo madness of Perez Prado and Xavier Cugat, private eye jazz from TV's "77 Sunset Strip", "Peter Gunn" and "Mission: Impossible" and the pre-Atomic Age chamber jazz of Raymond Scott, among others. It's an hour of vintage recordings from the dawn of the Hi-Fi Era, zany Stereo Action and just plain incredibly strange music. Check out KANU/The Retro Cocktail Hour website for playlists of past shows, album scans, music samples and a weekly CD giveaway!
