Various ArtistsMo'plen 3000 (Irma La Douce 807) The follow up to Mo'plen 2000 subtitles itself "Space killer tracks from the past...till the third millenium." Ummm...sure...OK...whatever. Once again, it's a hit and miss collection with some truly throw away tracks. This time around, the focus is on kind of a space age rock meets Italian spy bachelor pad. If you think that's confusing, you're getting the idea of this collection. Fans of "cover" songs should note the dead ringer "Peter Gunn" variation by Aratari entitled "Il Ballo Dell'elefante." Certainly not as strong as Mo'plen 2000, soundtrack fans will still find a few gems here. Pick it up only if you've got everything else. Various ArtistsMo'plen 2000 (Irma La Douce 805) Subtitled "Acid hip tracks from Italian coctails!", you pretty much kow what you're in for here. More swinging spy jazz Italian style from the likes of Riz Ortolani, Giovanni Lamberti, Roberto Pregadio and Bruno Nicolai among others. There appears to be an endless wealth of Italian soundtrack music to mine, and between the efforts of Crippled Dick Hot Wax, Right Tempo and now Irma La Douce, we may soon be able to have every note on CD. these tracks date frm the 1965-75 period of Italian EZ pop and is a bit of a hit and miss collection. about twenty percents is completely forgettable, but another 20 percent rates ultra suave. Of the remaining 60 percent, it really depends on the day of the week and the mood you're in as to whether it swings or sucks. If you're a serious Italian soudtrack collector (and Vik's sure there are a few of you), this does contain some true gems. For the casual fan, you might want to find a copy to listen to before buying. It's an impot in the States and a little pricey, but if you have $25 burning a hole in your pocket, you certainly could do worse.
