Seems 1996 must be the year of the lesbian vampire. First cams Vampyros Lesbos...and now Nickelbag Records debuts with Sukia. Taking their name from an adult Mexican lesbian vampire comic (yes, you read that right), Sukia journeys deep into the twisted dark side of moog driven exotica.
Like a soundtrack for a sexy noir thriller. Like Perrey and Kingsley on a wild acid bender. Found sounds (NASA transmissions, hypnosis records, how to serve wine recordings) dance around sinister vocals on a bed of moogs and and the odd live instrument. No novelty act here, nothing silly and tossed off to catch a trend. Sukia are serious in their re-creation of the moog experiments of the '60s with a '90s edge. Fans of moog, exotica and imaginary sountrack will delight in the surreal world of Sukia...
Produced by the Dust Brothers (the US team...NOT the blokes now known as the Chemical Brothers), those studio wizards responsible for the Beastie Boys "Paul's Boutique".
